Vinay Gowda is an Indian actor who is known for his work in Sandalwood. He has gained fame for his portrayal of Lord Shiva in many Kannada mythological TV shows. He was one of the contestants in the Bigg Boss Kannada Season 10 in 2023.

Vinay Gowda was born on Wednesday, 7 March 1979 (age 44 years; as of 2023) in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. His zodiac sign is Pisces. He passed 10th standard at St. Ann’s High School, Rajajinagar, Bangalore in 1997.

He studied at KLE Society’s S Nijalingappa College. He left his home in Bangalore and went to Mumbai at the age of 21 in 2000 after having a fight with his father. He started working as a manager in a hotel in Mumbai and later pursued a career in acting.

Vinay Gowda got married to Akshatha Gowda, a casting director, on 15 June 2008. They have a son named Rushabh Gowda who was born on 15 November 2008; Rushabh is a very good skater and has competed in various school-level skating championships.

His wife’s sister is Nishitha Gowda who is an actress and influenced Vinay to audition for roles in Kannada TV serials.

Relationships/Affairs

Vinay and Akshatha have known each other since their childhood and later got into a relationship. Although Akshatha’s parents were not happy with their relationship; however, they got married without their parents’ consent after around 10 years of relationship.

He follows Hinduism and is a devotee of Lord Shiva. In an interview, he revealed that his house’s deity is Lord Shiva.

Film

Kannada

He made his debut in the Kannada film industry with Rocket in 2015. He later acted in many films including ATM (Attempt To Murder) in 2018, Shivaji Surathkal in 2020 as Roshan Ravi, Pogaru in 2021, and Khaimara in 2023.

Television

Kannada

He made his debut with the TV show Chitte Hejje in 2013. Although he was not interested in acting at that time and started working as an actor to make more money, he was later offered many roles in different TV serials. He later acted in CID Karnataka in 2013, Ambari in 2014, Amma in 2016, Bayasade Bali Bande in 2019, Nandini in 2019, and Marali Manasagide in 2021.

He gained fame with his portrayal of Lord Shiva in Hara Hara Mahadeva in 2016 and was liked by fans for his acting. He later acted in many mythological TV shows such as Jai Hanumana in 2018 as Ravana and Yediyuru Shri Siddhalingeshwara in 2020 as Lord Shiva, which he quit after he tested positive for COVID-19.

He has also acted as a villain in many TV shows including as Badrinath Chinni in Namma Lacchi in 2023 and in Shambhavi in 2023.

Reality TV

His debut Kannada reality TV show was the dance show Super Jodi in 2016 in which he participated with his wife, Akshatha Gowda, and they emerged as winners of the show. He participated in another dance reality TV show Ismart Jodi in 2022 with his wife.

 

He was named one of the contestants in the Bigg Boss Kannada Season 10, hosted by Kiccha Sudeep and broadcast on Colors Kannada and streamed on Jio Cinema.

Telugu

He made his debut in the Telugu television industry with Ravoyi Chandamama in 2021.

• In an interview, Vinay revealed that he used to smoke cigarettes during his college time; however, his mother caught him smoking at home once and slapped him. He later stopped smoking. He likes drinking alcoholic beverages during parties.
