Umesh Kamat made his film debut with the Marathi film ‘Kaydyacha Bola'(2005) in which he played the role of ‘Abhijit Vaidya.’ Some of his notable films are ‘Time Please’ (2013), ‘A Playing Ghost’ (2015), ‘Ye Re Ye Re Paisa’ (2018), and ‘Asehi Ekada Vhave’ (2018). In 2020, Umesh played a cameo part in the movie ‘Dhurala.’

Umesh entered the TV industry with the show ‘Abhalmaya’ in 2002. Some of his memorable roles in the serials were ‘Ashambav'(2007) where he appeared as ‘Adinath Shastri,’ ‘Shubham Karoti'(2010) in which he played the role of ‘Nishad’ etc. TV serial ‘Eka Lagnachi Tisri Goshta'(2012) where he acted as ‘Adv. Om Chaudhary’ was one of his best performances and received immense love from the viewers.

Controversies
Umesh Kamat had chosen to sue media platforms and news outlets for wrongly linking him to businessman and Shilpa Shetty’s spouse Raj Kundra’s pornographic film scandal. Umesh was arrested by the Mumbai police because he worked for the UK-based Kenrin Pvt Ltd, a production business that operates the Hotshots app, where some pornographic movies were being uploaded. Kundra was later accused of running the Hotshots app through his Mumbai-based company Viaan Industries.
