Trump-Adult star secret payment case, former president again reaches court

New York. Former US President Donald Trump arrived in a New York court again on Tuesday for the hearing of the case of allegations of paying secret money to an adult star. The process of selecting jury members for the hearing of this case is going on. 12 jury members and six alternate members are to be selected. On the first day of the historic hearing of this case in Manhattan, no jury member could be selected on Monday.

Dozens of people were excluded from the selection process after they said they did not think they could be impartial in the case. Dozens of other potential jurors were questioned. Trump arrived in the courtroom just before 9 a.m. on Tuesday. This is the first criminal trial involving any former US president and the first of Trump’s four impeachments to be heard.

This could possibly be the first case on which a decision could come before the voting for the presidential election in the country in November. This case of Trump giving money to adult star Stormy Daniels is from 2016. At that time, there were reports of Trump having a relationship with the porn star and it is alleged that he had paid Stormy 1 lakh 30 thousand dollars to hide this matter.

The former president’s company gave this money to his lawyer Michael Cohen, who paid this to the adult star on behalf of Trump. Trump is the Republican Party’s potential candidate in this year’s presidential election and is likely to face a challenge from President Joe Biden. Trump has pleaded not guilty to 34 serious counts of tampering with business records.

Prosecutors say the payment to Cohen was falsely reported as a legal fee to hide Trump’s real motive, while Trump’s lawyers say it was actually a legal expense and there was no cover-up. Trump, while talking to reporters before entering the courtroom, again accused the judge of being biased against him and that the case was politically motivated.
