S. Muniswamy is an Indian politician, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and an agriculturist. He started his career with the gram panchayat election and within 15 years became a member of the lower house of the Parliament. In 2019, he became the first corporator of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) who won in the Lok Sabha elections.

S. Muniswamy was born on Wednesday, 16 April 1975 (age 48 years; as of 2023) in Yalavaguli village, Tekal, Malur Taluk of Kolar District, Karnataka. His zodiac sign is Aries. After completing his primary education, he pursued a pre-university course (equivalent to 12th class in Karnataka) at Government Pre-University College Kadugodi in 1996. He enrolled in LLB at V.V. Career
In 1999, S. Muniswamy contested the gram panchayat election but he lost. He then contested from Seegehalli panchayat in 2004 which he won; he also served as vice president of the Seegehalli panchayat. At that time, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

In 2015, S. Muniswamy contested from the 83 Kudugodi ward as a BJP candidate; he won with a total count of 8590 votes and became a corporator. In 2018, Muniswamy was BJP’s candidate for the mayoral election of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP); he lost against Sampath Raju of the Indian National Congress-Janata Dal-Secular (INC-JDS).

In 2019, BJP declared him a candidate from the Kolar constituency for the 2019 Lok Sabha election. Kolar’s 30% population belongs to the scheduled caste hence this seat was reserved for the scheduled caste. Muniswamy’s opponent was KH Muniyappa of Congress, a seven-time member of the Parliament from the Kolar constituency and former railway minister. Muniswamy emerged as the dark horse, defeating Muniyappa by a huge margin of more than one lakh votes; with this, he became the first corporator of BBMP to become a member of the lower house of the Parliament.

On 13 September 2019, he became a member of the Standing Committee on Coal, Mines and Steel and in 2023, he became a member of the Consultative Committee, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.

Lashed out on a woman on Women’s Day
On 8 March 2023, S. Muniswamy came under fire for his regressive remarks. On a women’s day event he was inspecting stalls in an exhibition when he lashed out at the owner of a clothing stall, he said,
Who allowed you to put up this stall? Where is your bindi? Your husband is still alive, isn’t he? No Common Sense!”
This incident drew huge criticism from the opposition party members. Later, BJP issued a statement citing that it was Muniswamy’s personal opinion and party has nothing to do with such views.
FIR for Assaulting and Abusing a woman
In January 2018, Muniswamy came to know that a few people are involved in encroaching on the government land. He took cognisance of the issue and went to Sidharthanagar of Kadugodi, Bengaluru, where he got into a quarrel with a woman. After the incident, the woman filed an FIR against Muniswamy alleging abuse and an attempt to harass her.

- According to data, In 2019-2020, S. Muniswamy got Rs. 2.50 Cr under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLAD) and his expenditure was around Rs 4.45 Cr. He recommended 80 works of which only 50 were completed. In financial years 2021-22 and 2022-23, he got Rs 2.5 Cr and Rs 2 Cr respectively of which his expenditure is zero as of March 2023.
