Randhir Kapoor is a former Indian actor, film producer, and director who worked in Hindi cinema. He made his acting and directorial debut in the family drama ‘Kal Aaj Aur Kal’ in 1971. He produced the film ‘Henna’ in 1991 which proved to be the most commercially successful film of the decade. His film ‘Jawani Diwani'(1972) in which he played ‘Vijay Anand’ was one of the biggest hits of that year. Kapoor was last seen in the film ‘Super Nani’ (2014).

Randhir is the son of popular Indian actor and director Raj Kapoor and his wife Krishna Kapoor. He has two sisters, Reema Jain, and deceased businesswoman Ritu Nanda, as well as two brothers, Rajiv Kapoor who was an Indian actor, director, and producer, passed away on 9 February 2021 from a heart attack; and Rishi Kapoor who was also an Indian actor, director, and producer, passed away on 30 April 2020 from leukemia. Before India’s partition, his family relocated to Mumbai from their Kapoor Haveli in Peshawar (now in Pakistan) to pursue performing professions.

Randhir Kapoor made his acting and directorial debut with the film ‘Kal Aaj Aur Kal'(1971), which starred his wife, father, and grandfather. The film performed moderately at the box office.
Later in 1972, Randhir worked in three back-to-back films namely; ‘Jeet’, ‘Rampur Ka Lakshman’, and ‘Jawani Diwani’. The films were a success.
Then, MGR’s hit film ‘RickshawKaran'(1971) was remade in Hindi in 1973 as ‘Rickshawala’ with Randhir as the hero opposite the new heroine Neetu Singh, by Director K. Shankar, but the film flopped.
