Madan Puri (1915-1985) was an Indian actor who worked in Hindi and Punjabi movies. He is the brother of well-known actors, Amrish Puri and Chaman Puri. He died on 13 January 1985, due to a heart attack at the age of 69.

‘Madan Lal Puri,’ known as Madan Puri was born on Thursday, 30 September 1915 (aged 69 years; at the time of death) in Nawanshahr, Punjab. He completed his formal studies in Rahon, Punjab. He pursued graduation at Hindu College-Delhi University. Later, he made his name in Bollywood with the support of his first cousin, singer K.L. Saigal.

Wife & Children
Madan Puri was married to Sheela Devi. The couple was blessed with three sons, namely, Pravesh Puri, Lt. Col. Dr. Kamlesh K Puri, and Ramnesh Puri. His wife Sheela Devi died a few years later after Madan Puri’s death.

Career
Film
Madan started his acting career in the 1940s and made his film debut in the movie “Ahinsa” in 1946. He gained recognition for his portrayal of negative and villainous roles in Hindi films. Some of his notable movies and roles include ‘Sawarg Narak’ as Lala Lalchand (1978), ‘Ram Bharose’ as Boss (1977), ‘Deewar’ (1975) as Samantand, ‘Dharmatma’ in 1975, and ‘Blackmail’ (1973) as ‘Dr. Khurana.’
He starred in the Punjabi films like Jatti, Jatt Punjabi, etc. Puri’s performances were characterized by his powerful screen presence and versatile acting skills. Many of his films were released after his death. Madan Puri’s final performance was as ‘Kaka’ in the film ‘Santosh’ (1989).
