Jaihind Kumar is an Indian actor, scriptwriter, and director, who has worked in many Hindi films. He appeared in the 2023 film Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai.
Jaihind Kumar was born in Uttar Pradesh, India. After completing his schooling in Uttar Pradesh, he relocated to New Delhi, where he enrolled at Jamia Millia Islamia University. Later, he joined the university’s theatrical group, Pierrot Troupe, which Sayeed Alam established, and took part in numerous plays. While pursuing his graduation, he applied for the National School Drama in New Delhi; however, he could not make it as he had not completed his graduation. After completing his graduation, he went to Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, where he enrolled at the Himachal Cultural Research Forum & Theatre Academy Mandi, affiliated with the NSD, and joined the first batch of the academy.

After completing his formal education, Jaihind Kumar moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in the film industry. In Mumbai, he auditioned for many films; however, he was unsuccessful in getting a role in any film. He did get to act in a few side roles in TV serials but was unhappy as a result of which he decided to temporarily quit pursuing acting and started scriptwriting in which he was unsuccessful as well. In 2010, he landed the role of a fruit vendor in the film Tum Milo Toh Sahi; he shared the screen with renowned actors like Nana Patekar, Dimple Kapadia, and Suniel Shetty. In the same year, he appeared in the film Payback in which he appeared as Sandy. He played the role of a father in the 2015 short film Jaya for which he was nominated in the Madrid International Film Festival under the best actor’s category. In the same year, he appeared in the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-directed short film Miyan Kal Aana.
He got a major break in his acting career in 2016 after he landed the role of Harnaam in a black comedy crime drama film titled Laal Rang in which he shared the screen with Randeep Hooda. In an interview, while talking about he got the role in the film, Jaihind said,
I was attending a small party at actor friend Manav Kaul’s place and there Siddharth Hussain introduced me to Syed Ahmed Afzal, who had directed Youngistaan. He was sharing the music of Laal Rang with everyone over there and I was really impressed by it. He then suddenly offered me a role in the film. He did not even know that I am an actor. It was the role of a Rickshaw puller. That’s how I got the role in the film.”
Jaihind Kumar landed the role of a transgender character named Rani in the 2017 film Baaraat Company.
In the same year, he acted along with Manoj Bajpayee in the film Rukh. He directed a 2018 short film titled Utpataang. He bagged the role of a goon in the film Super 30 in which he shared the screen with Hrithik Roshan. He appeared in a 2021 film titled Shankar’s Fairies, which was showcased at the Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes. In the same year, he landed a role in Zero Kilometer, a short film, which was premiered at the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival.
In 2022, he landed the role of Madho Donald in the MX Player web series Shiksha Mandal.
In May 2022, he appeared in a web series titled Escaype Live in which he worked along with Jaaved Jaffrey. Jaihind Kumar worked as a scriptwriter in the 2023 film Bole Chudiyan, starring renowned actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Rajpal Yadav. On 23 May 2023, he appeared along with Manoj Bajpayee in the Zee5 courtroom drama film Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai. The film was previously named Bandaa and is based on the real-life story of an advocate named P. C. Solanki who fought against Asaram Bapu in the rape case of a minor girl.
