Annabel Sutherland was born on Friday, 12 October 2001 (age 21 years; as of 2022) in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Her zodiac sign is Libra. She pursued a science degree from 2014 to 2019 at Methodist Ladies’ College, Kew Vic, Australia. When she was a child, she used to play cricket with her brother in their backyard and at the Malvern Cricket Club, she was the only girl to play cricket. Later, her mother set up a cricket team for girls in the club. Before playing cricket, she used to play Australian Rules football. In an interview, her father talked about her and said,
A lot’s changed in girls’ and women’s sport, but there was a period still for her during her primary school years where the only way she could play was to play with boys. One of the things I reflect on, is that she was brave to play in that environment and that she must have really loved her sport, whether it was cricket or footy, because she was the one girl in a boys team. Sometimes there were two girls, but mostly it was all boys. And that can be quite intimidating … I always felt that’s brave, or that she just really loved the sport, to want to do it week-in, week-out, year after year.”

Annabel’s father’s name is James Sutherland, who works as a cricket administrator. Her mother’s name is Heidi. She has two brothers, Will Sutherland, who is a cricketer, and Tom Sutherland.
Career
She made her debut at the age of 15 for the Melbourne Renegades in the Big bash and became the youngest player to feature in the tournament. She used to play in the Australian under-15 and under-19 cricket teams. In 2015, she was the Player of the Championships in the Under 15 National Champs. In 2018, she score 340 runs at an average of 48.6 in an Under-18 National championship becoming the Player of the Championships.
Domestic Cricket
In April 2019, she signed a contract with Cricket Australia to be included in the National Performance Squad before the 2019–20 season. In April 2022 she was picked by the Welsh Fire for the 2022 season of The Hundred in England.
International Cricket
In January 2020, she was selected to become part of Australia’s squad for the 2020 Australia women’s Tri-Nation Series and the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. In February 2020, she made her Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) debut for Australia in the tri-series against England. In April 2020, before the 2020–21 season, she signed a central contract with Cricket Australia. On 3 October 2020, she made her Women’s One Day International (WODI) for Australia against New Zealand. In August 2021, she played a series against India including a one-off day/night Test match as a part of Australia’s squad. On 30 September 2021, she made her test debut for Australia against India. In January 2022, she was picked for the Women’s Ashes series and became part of Australia’s squad for the series against England. In January 2022, she was picked for the Australian squad for the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand. In 2022, she played the WBBL against Melbourne Renegades and scored 62 runs off 29 balls and took 3 wickets for 37 runs.
