New Delhi: Islamic countries constantly accuse America of spreading Islamophobia. Meanwhile, a surprising order has been given in Louisiana, America. Louisiana has become the first state to make it mandatory to display the Ten Commandments in every public school classroom.

According to news agency AP, this is the latest step by the Republican Party-dominated legislature to advance a conservative agenda under the new governor. The bill, signed into law by Republican Governor Jeff Landry on Wednesday, requires poster-sized displays of the Ten Commandments in “large, easy-to-read font” in all public classrooms, from kindergarten to state-funded universities.

Opponents questioned the law’s constitutionality and vowed to challenge it in court. Supporters said the measure was not just religious but also had historical significance. In the language of the law, the Ten Commandments are “the foundational documents of our state and national government.”

The posters, which will be paired with a four-paragraph “context statement” explaining how the Ten Commandments were “a staple of American public education for nearly three centuries,” must be put up in classrooms by the beginning of 2025. Under the law, state funds will not be used to enforce the mandate. The posters will be paid for through donations.
