New Delhi/Washington. Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the Sela Tunnel to the people of the country on 9 March 2024. This tunnel is located in Arunachal Pradesh at an altitude of 13,000 feet above sea level. With this tunnel coming into service, it will become very easy to come and go to Tawang in any season. After the establishment of all-weather road connectivity, it has now become possible to go to Tawang bordering China in any season. Let us tell you that it becomes very difficult to go to Tawang in rain or winter. Road connectivity is completely broken. China is not happy with the development of Arunachal. China, enraged by PM Modi’s visit, has started singing the same old tune on Arunachal Pradesh. Now the US has also slapped Beijing hard. The Biden government said that Arunachal Pradesh is a part of India and Washington will strongly oppose any unilateral action by China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

America has recognized Arunachal Pradesh as an integral part of India. It has also strongly opposed any kind of encroachment or other activities by China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Let us tell you that this stand of America has come at a time when after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh, the Chinese army had called it a part of its country. Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, who was upset with PM Modi’s Arunachal visit, had called Arunachal a part of Southern Tibet. He had said that China has never accepted Arunachal as a part of India.

America took out its arrogance
Joe Biden’s government has reacted strongly to China’s attitude. US State Department spokesman Vedant Patel said, “America recognizes Arunachal as an integral part of India. We strongly oppose any unilateral claim or encroachment on LAC.” Let us tell you that India has been continuously rejecting China’s claim. In fact, in the last few years, India has accelerated the process of development in the Northeast. Roads and other means are being continuously upgraded to increase connectivity. In this connection, PM Modi dedicated the Sela Tunnel connecting Tawang to the All Weather Road to the country on 9 March 2024. China is upset with this.

‘Arunachal was, is and will remain a part of India’
The Ministry of External Affairs had earlier reacted to China’s attitude by saying that it has taken note of the remarks made by the Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson ‘advancing absurd claims’ on the territory of Arunachal Pradesh and said that the state was, is and will always remain an integral and inseparable part of India. This reaction from the Ministry of External Affairs came at a time when a few days ago, after India rejected China’s objection to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh, the Chinese army reiterated its claim on the state and called it a natural part of China’s territory. In a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, the ministry’s spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal was quoted as saying, “We have taken note of the remarks made by the Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson ‘advancing absurd claims’ on the territory of the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. Repeating baseless arguments in this regard does not give any legitimacy to such claims. Arunachal Pradesh was, is and will always remain an integral and inseparable part of India. Its people will continue to benefit from our development programs and infrastructure projects.
