A half kilometer long bridge was built in 9 years, 917 billion rupees were spent, but neither a car nor a train can run on it, know why?

New Delhi: A bridge has been built in America, which has become a topic of discussion. This railway bridge has been inaugurated and 11 billion US dollars (about Rs 917 billion) have been spent in its construction. It took 9 years to build this high speed rail bridge. But the surprising thing is that this railway bridge does not go anywhere. Yes, this railway bridge connects neither from the front nor from the back. Even though this railway bridge has been inaugurated, trains cannot run on it yet. The state government of California is celebrating the completion of this high-speed rail bridge, but it is also facing criticism for the same.

Many bigwigs, including Twitter and Tesla boss Elon Musk and Dogecoin creator Billy Marcus, have mocked the California High-Speed Rail Authority. The California High-Speed Rail Authority last year proudly announced the completion of the ‘Fresno River Viaduct’ (the name of the rail bridge), a small section of the state’s long-delayed bullet train project. The project aims to connect San Francisco to Los Angeles.

Elon Musk expressed his disappointment with a crying emoji on his social media platform X over the rail project, which is reportedly facing the possibility of cancellation. Whereas Billy Marcus sarcastically said in his X post that this is the most remarkable human achievement till date. He said, ‘After 9 years and 11 billion dollars spent, 1,600 feet high-speed rail. It takes about 5 minutes to walk 1,600 feet, so high-speed rail is a really big deal for him.’

According to a report by India Today, the money spent on this rail bridge project includes bridges and other infrastructure for the first phase of the high-speed route, which stretches from Bakersfield, north of Los Angeles, to Merced, about 80 miles from the Bay Area. Critics responded to an earlier post by the rail authority, in which the authority praised the completion of the Fresno River Viaduct in Madera County, calling it one of the first completed high-speed rail structures.

The High-Speed Rail Authority had said, ‘Approximately 1,600 feet long high-speed trains will pass over the river and run parallel to the BNSF Railroad.’ Photos posted by the high-speed rail authority show that the bridge is not connected in any way at either end. This is why people are making fun of it and some people argue that these are the factors affecting the project.
